  2. maureen comiskey says:

Had a fantastic time when we visited Four Winds Leisure. The wardens and owners were very helpful and friendly and nothing was too much trouble. The hygiene and Covid precautions made us feel very safe and secure.
Would definitely recommend and it was very easy to socially isolate. This was important to us as my husband has been in the shielding group.
Well done to everyone for making our stay safe and secure and we shall be returning soon

  3. Paula says:

Just returned to the campsite after the lockdown being eased (4 July) and had a lovely time again. Measures in place were excellent and as per the Gov directions, although things have changed to conform with these guidelines. There was little or no change from the professionalism of the team, (Bev, John, Paul and Pauline) and it was as if the site was running as previously seen (social distancing observed by all visitors to the site).

The systems in place are great, lighting in the toilets to indicate use, ample disinfectant, the one way route on site works and a brilliant routine for collection of a great English Breakfast.

It was good to see the resilience of the team and the addition of the new member of the team, (new puppy) welcoming regulars on the grand opening. Not only that, but being of the certain age, loved the bottle of Babychame gift.

Having been to several sites since, it is a breath of fresh air to see how quiet this site is and you forget how nice the surrounding area and sights are.

    Will be back very soon.

    Paula, Derek and Buster.

  5. Jo Duxberry says:

We wanted a quiet, peaceful and safe few days away… we had a wonderful time.
You have done a fabulous job with the covid conversions. Paul and Pauline were really helpful and I had some lovely chats with Pauline too 😊
The pitches are huge and we great family fun using the field for rounders and football too. I have recommended you to everyone!
We look forward to coming again soon.
    Thanks again.

  6. Stuart Milner says:

Wanted to find a campsite in a low Covid infection area that was not too busy for our holiday and Fourwinds was absolutely that. The size of the pitches gave plenty of space, the facilities were adequate for the site, expertly adapted and managed for the current Covid situation. It all instilled confidence and security during our stay.
Booking was easy and straight forward, with excellent communication. Everyone on the site made us feel welcome and went above and beyond to make our stay very enjoyable. If I’m in the area I would certainly return to camp again or even call by to say ‘Hi’. Get your stay booked now. Oh, and the car’s all OK again…
From my son and I, “Thank you”.

  7. Jacqueline Beatson says:

Great place to stay. Lovely location. Helpful and friendly. Excellent Covid precautions. Very accommodating. Suits all ages. Spotless clean. 2nd time we’ve stayed on the site, it’s was as enjoyable as the first. We will definitely be back again 😀

  8. Lee Mallott says:

Thank you for looking after us… As usual we had a great stay with you and taking the canoes down river on the hottest day of the year was perfect!

  9. Yet again another exerlant weekend on the site ,warm welcome as per usual. Had a problem with our van before leaving and John went out of his way to help and get us moving again.

  10. Timothy Long says:

    5 star

  11. Laura says:

We stayed at Fourwinds for two nights, wish it was longer! A great family place to stay. John and his team were so lovely and welcoming, especially in this strange time of Covid19 they have pulled out all the stopped to make it safe but still with that friendly feel which was much appreciated! Paul was so helpful with the canoe hiring too. We will definitely be back again! Thank you. From, very happy customers 🙂

  12. Campbell Dunn says:

Stayed two nights from 18th August in our Motorhome on your lovely and peaceful camping site. Manager very friendly and helpfull. Location ideal for riverside stroll to March. Facilities very clean. Two points to improve on, signage to differentiate check in for B & B and Camping site also a pressure washing of the Camping site check in van. We would stay their again. Many thanks Campbell & Lynda Dunn p.s. Poppy would also like to return.

    • Hi Campbell, thanks for the nice review. With regards to the signage we do keep trying to amend it with big arrows etc in the attempt to make it clear which direction to go in for both facilities, but on occasion it still doesn’t work – we will keep trying different messages. Also with regards to our little old camping reception van (we affectionately call Pearl) she is very scruffy we know. We think if we pressure wash her she will fall apart … love her! But we do take on board that she needs a little TLC and a scrub up and will get on with that! We look forward to seeing you both and Poppy another time 🙂

  13. Pete Simpson says:

Sorry could not find s symbol link on IK campsite
Just to say thanks for a very comfortable and friendly stay
Was bike touring and only stayed one night but had a great shower and you very helpfully charged my power bank for me

  14. Senga says:

Stopped here for 2 nights on our way South on holiday and while visiting family, a gem of a campsite-what a find.
We stopped in our Campervan with our 2 Goldies who loved a stroll down to the waters edge.
The toilets & showers were an extension to the house & were kept spotless. There was a pot wash area there too which was also spotlessly clean. The path round to them was immaculately kept, to the same high standard as the campsite itself.
The owners, Bev & John, are absolutely lovely & extremely helpful, I will definitely be back here

  15. Peter Edward March says:

Thank you so much for a brilliant 3 days. Having just bought our new to us Motorhome Paul really couldn’t have done any more to help us. So peaceful. Who knew there was this hidden jem.
We will most definitely be back.

  18. David & Christine says:

This campsite is a lovely out of the way site, very clean and tidy and a credit to Beverly and John the owners

  19. Sheila Lennie says:

This site was recommended by my son who had stayed in the B&B. What a find! We booked a small rally of seven vans and stayed a week. The campsite is well laid out and very quiet. We had two evening meals and both were beautifully cooked,Very filling and highly recommended. We also have a breakfast one morning and poached eggs, scrambled eggs and fried eggs were all requested. Nothing is too much trouble for Bev and John! The facilities were clean and warm. Electricity is supplied by way of rechargeable card. Initial payment of £5. Any money left on card at end of visit is refunded. I wish more campsites would adopt this method of charging. We enjoyed ourselves that much that by the end of the third day everyone wanted a repeat holiday and I duly booked to come back in 2020.

  20. Emma says:

Had a little one night stay at this little gem of a place , it’s only 20minutes from home but it’s so lovely . Will defiantly be returning

  21. michael dunn says:

Very warm welcome from Bev, john, Paul and Pauline, we had a great time on this out of the way site, the site was very clean and facilities always clean and tidy, had a few good chats with Paul and Pauline ( Matty sends his love to ) that is after he rewrote the great escape. on arrival we were shown all the facilities and also pointed out the 2 little owls and the woodpeckers, great walk into March along the old river Nene. You have a large supermarket 5 min drive and you can also get a takeaway delivered to site if required. A big thumbs up for this site and would recommend this site .

  22. Paula McFaul says:

Yet another great time away with the friendly team on site. The breakfast is great and so are the bacon sandwiches (unfortunatly we cannot go in for the sit down breakfast option due to a dog with seperation issues). The team are knowlageable and non intrusive, but there if you require any help. A very quiet location and an easy walk into town, should you wish to explore. All faciities are very clean and tidy. We hope to be back very soon.

    Many thanks.

    Paula, Derek and Buster.

  23. Barry Hills says:

Well run site, Bev and John were extremely welcoming and helpful.

We stayed for 3 nights on this quiet and peaceful site with very little noise from the A142 March by-pass.

Facilities were always clean and tidy and as we were one of only seven vans on site the fact that there are only two toilets and two showers did not give us a problem. The showers are operated on a token system (50p for 6 mins.) which is perfectly adequate, unless you are my wife!

Refunds for unused tokens and unused electricity (purchased a £5.00 card and received £2.00 back!) is a great system and one that could be employed at other sites.

We were shown to a pitch near (but not too close) to a hedge. The pitch had a gravel surface and was flat and level (well, this is the Fens). All pitches are of a generous size so you don’t feel hemmed in by your neighbours.
The site stretched down to the footpath along the Old River Nene which takes you an a short walk right into the centre of the market town of March. There is a Tesco’s within a 5 minute drive so provisions are easily obtained!

Would we recommend this site to others….YES ( although it may be a problem to get in if too many people know about this gem of a site!).

Thanks to Bev & John this site is one we will visit again when we are in the area.

  24. Kerri Hellon-Warwick says:

Just home from a stay in Bev and Johns beautiful Shepherds hut. With the little fire going it is so cosy and with the delicious breakfast, a perfect weekend.
Many thanks for another brilliant memory. Kerri and Barrie

  25. Graham Guthrie says:

yet another great stay at fourwinds. The staff are excellent, friendly and only to glad to help. this is our go to site for visiting the fens from Glasgow. Plenty to do and an easy pleasant walk into march which has everything from supermarkets to bars and takeaways. We have stayed a few times now and the site is better than ever. You can also book breakfast or a bacon or sausage sandwich at the b and b . pitches are nice and level and some even have firepits. you can buy firewood at the b and b. We will be back again very soon.

  26. Paula McFaul says:

This is the second time that we have visited the site, and as before, we had a brilliant time. Nice and clean, with friendly staff who are not intrusive and can point you in the right direction, if required. Showers and facilities are clean and adequate, token based and as previously mentioned, ample time in the shower and pitches are lovely.

There is a huge amount of wildlife, so if you are interested, bring binos and a camera. Shops can be walked to and the town is a 15 walk by the Old River Nene.

We have still not tried the breakfasts, as we have a dog (Buster) that would pine and pine if parted from us, but will try the bacon sandwiches next time.

Many thanks for a wonderful time.

Paula, Derek and Buster (woof woof).

  27. Nicki says:

This site is very local to us and booked as a trial weekend with a group of friends as camping is new to us all. What a fantastic site, lovely and clean, shower token 50p for 6 mins which was more than enough time. We had one electric hook up and used 96p all weekend. You pay £5 deposit and £5 for electric up front, I got £5 deposit and £4 electric refund. There was plenty of room for the children to play and the river bank walk and sunset was perfect. The fire pit with toasted marshmallows was a lovely end to the day. More than helpful staff at hand for help and advice. All in all a great site on our doorstep and hope to return later in the year.

  28. jeremy says:

Just had one day and evening with friends, and had a blast of a time. Good clean facilities, close to town and amenities but far enough away for peace and quiet.
    Highly recommend

  29. Tony June jason & chell says:

Spent only one night last minute booking
We was made very welcome by David the wardon so helpful past his duty
Site is extremely clean quiet and loads of space to make you feel as if your alone
And a breakfast to die for cooked by the owners will be returning for a long visit next time

  30. Sarah Burgess says:

We had a short stay at Four winds, one of the best sites we have been to! We did the walk into March and managed to have one of their lovely breakfasts, very recommended. Facilities were great and fire pit was fab for toasting marshmallows. Warden Paul and his wife couldn’t of been more helpful or welcoming. Planning to return to the shepherds hut soon!

  31. Rosemary Cleaver says:

We’ve just spent a super Bank Holiday weekend camping at Fourwinds with children and grandchildren, and can really recommend it as a welcoming site with a happy, relaxed atmosphere. Our party of ten had a great time. There’s nothing like ‘No ball games’ and ‘No cycling’ here! And toasting marshmallows around the firepit and making ‘dens’ between the trees are things that make lasting memories! Thank you Bev and John for your organisation and flexibility, and thank you Theresa and Darren for the warm welcome.

  32. Sean says:

Hi, I took 5 x 15year olds from Cambridge for a birthday camping weekend as i was looking for something different to do with them. I visited the site unannounced to book it as was in the area a couple of months before and couldnt have been made more welcome. We had a fire pit with our pitch bought our own bbq and wood and hired 2 canoes for the afternoon. The boys had a brilliant time canoeing out into the countryside, having a break for something to eat, having a swim. When we got back we used the shower facilities which were v good and clean.

The boys had plenty of space to run around, play football, rugby and just sit and chill out by the river. In the evening we had the fire bbq and a great time. Unlike sleepovers at home where they would still be on the x box at 4 in the morning they were all asleep by 11.30!!! and up for bacon rolls at 8.30 All said what a great time they had had. The site and bev and john were great and i fully intend to return Although it was a year or so ago now I have recommended it to friends and they have made similar comments after their stays

  33. Ron Ann Taylor says:

Hi We had a very enjoyable time at Bev and John,s site, the location is very good walkable into March and near crossroads to many areas n.e.s.w. of location.Would recommend Fourwinds to anyone, friendly, helpfull and good value.
    Ann & Ron Taylor

  34. Paula H says:

As a group with 6 units, 11 children and 10 adults we had a fantastic time at this campsite. Bev and John were extremely friendly and helpful throughout the entire weekend. We camped around a firepit, and bought the logs from them, which were reasonably priced. The 2 toilets and 2 showers were part of the main house, and were well kept and supplied. The river at the far end of the field was fabulous, and we hired all the canoes and went into March for lunch and the pub, which was perfect. The site was great for us, with older children. We will definitely return, either with the group, or our family on our own! Thank you!

  35. We had a lovely long weekend stay. The site was clean peacefull and very friendly. We will definatley be back. I would recommend this site for couples and families very good value for money.

  36. Derek says:

I booked a few nights camping here while my narrowboat home was being reblacked and having some maintenance carried out at the neighbouring boatyard. John and Bev could not have been more welcoming, helpful and friendly. Staying an extra night than I’d planned was no problem. Showers, toilets and washing up areas were spotlessly clean. If I need somewhere to camp again in this area, I’d have no problem wanting to come to Fourwinds.

  37. G. McLeod says:

This May, my husband and I with three friends took over John and Bev’s B&B for around four nights. I can’t say enough positive about our experience — comfortable rooms, amazing food, and wonderful hosts who did everything they could to make our stay effortless. It was easy to feel completely at home. John and Beverly always went the extra mile whether it was catering to American food tastes, giving us lifts to the narrow boatyard, helping a clueless American figure out the washing machine, picking us up, arranging for taxis, recommending cookbooks, helping us learn nautical knots, or just explaining what a tamarisk is. This was one of our best experiences in the UK this time and one of the best B & B’s I’ve been to. Thanks for a wonderful time! We hope to be in your lovely neighborhood again.

  38. Charlie says:

Well what can I say…. I have been camping/ canoeing here twice now & we loved it.
Not only is it a beautiful location, Bev & John are truely honest genuine people doing their upmost toile your stay as pleasurable as possible.
Very impressed with the facilities on offer they have really thought of everything!!
    We definetely will be back.

  39. emma says:

This was our first experience using our caravan and awning with the kids the dog and the neighbours! We had a lovely time, it was very peaceful – apart from Bruno barking at all that walked past!! – Bev and John were lovely and couldn’t have been more welcoming, and my chat with John about the land and the farm was interesting too.
The sink/ washing area was all ways spotless as were the toilets and showers!
will definitely return, the kids really enjoyed the playing out side and entertaining themselves too!!

  40. Kerry Frith says:

We stayed for the Easter bank holiday (Easter Sunday to Tuesday). The accommodation was faultless. I had the best two nights sleep ever. The room was so comfortable and the bath, wow! I had a couple of nice relaxing baths in the evening. The breakfast was cooked to perfection and Bev was ever so friendly. Unfortunately the weather wasn’t great otherwise we would have tried a canoe ride down the river but we settled for a strolled instead into town. We had a down stairs bedroom accessed via the conservatory so we had easy access to the back garden and a big private bathroom with a flat screen TV, free view and free wifi. I’d recommend anyone to stay here. Thank you! Kerry & Barry.

  41. Susan says:

Our first canoe experience yesterday and we had a great time (despite the weather!) John was very welcoming and we will definitely be back again! Thank you 🙂

  42. Russ says:

Came with my young son for our first camping adventure together. We were warmly greeted by John who gave us all the help and time we needed in explaining what was what

The area where we pitched our tent was generously sized, flat and with a pre-dug fire pit. The number of pitches is limited, so I don’t think the place would ever feel crowded.

As some other reviews suggested the mooring by the river was a perfect place to introduce my son to fishing. Over the course of an hour we caught 15-20 (albeit not large) perch, rudd, roach and dace.

Washing up and shower facilities were more than adequate, clean and warm.

Plenty to do close by, particularly with a car. But we could have very easily spent all our time pottering around the tent, watching the plentiful wildlife. Any plans for a small play area?

    We’ll be back!
    Russ – Cambridge.

  43. Our family attended a wedding and we stayed in the B &B rooms over the weekend. We were very late arriving on the first night, but Bev waited up for us patiently as we drove through summer storms from our home near Eastbourne. Our breakfasts were very tasty, and Bev thoughtfully ensured there was breakfast available for our “slow to rise” teenagers later in the morning. I would thoroughly recommend staying at the B&B, and the campsite looked excellent too, we have camped a lot over the years and the facilities looked very good.

  44. Ron Wharmby says:

We cant say enough about this site its brilliant toilets, showers are kept spotless its well laid out for both caravans and tents the fishing is first class we will be back I had No hesitation in nominating the site for best cl

  45. Becky says:

We just returned from our stay and we had a wonderful time. Bev and John were wonderful and very helpful. They have a very nice set up and it is spacious and clean. 5 stars all the way. Thank you Bev and John.

    • Thanks Becky. It was lovely to meet you and your family and we look forward to seeing you again.

      • Mary says:

Just had to say what a wonderful site this is we only spent the weekend and wished it had been longer. Not only the site but Bev and John couldn’t have been more helpful but without being intrusive, and don’t start me on the homemade bread…. (Delicious) Thanks again and look forward to coming back soon

      • thanks Mary. Kinds words. look forward to seeing you both next time 🙂

  46. Graham Davies says:

Stayed 2 nights at the end of April on this very clean, flat and accessible CS. Unfortunately Bev and John were away but the arrangements they made beforehand and the communications to make those arrangements, made for a very relaxing stay. An ideal location for visiting the Fens area. We will be back. Thanks, Brenda & Graham Davies

  47. Terry & Josie says:

Just had 7 nights at Fourwinds with our caravan and what a lovely site. Bev & John are a lovely couple and made us fell very welcome. The site is very well kept as is the toilet and shower block, nothing is to much trouble on this camp site, the Old River Nene flows along the bottom of the site and there is a very nice walk along the river into March this takes about 40 min’s, there are several towns within a few miles of the site or just relax on site. We will be going back to Fourwinds later in the year and would recommend it. Once again thanks Bev & John for a very relaxing week. Terry & Josie.

  48. Brenda & Brian Currie says:

Had a very good 11 nights with our caravan. Beverley and John made us feel most welcome and as caravanners themselves know just how to make their site a wonderful place to stay. Thank you for all the effort you put into making a nice retret for us alll to enjoy. Brenda Luton

  49. Sandra Griffin says:

we stayed here 26till 30 December we had a great time very relaxing .Our only worry was tight turns with a large motorhome to get on to hardstanding. We hope to come again in the summer thankyou Sandra and Bill Griffin

  50. Margaret and Derek Dean says:

Only spent 2 nights on your lovely site but ideal for a winter break with the hard standings. You made us feel at home and look forward to staying with you again – Margaret and Derek, Kent

  51. Susan Oldcorn says:

Stayed for 10 nights in October, lovely clean warm shower block, and washing up inside not a drafty lean to, everything spot on, no complaints at all, will return.

  52. Denis Adam says:

We spent a really enjoyable night at the Fourwinds B&B on Monday 23 September 2013, having just agreed to purchase a property in the March are. The accommodation was real quality with all that you need for a good night’s sleep, comfortable and very well appointed, and, well the breakfast was something else, great local produce, cooked to perfection. John and Beverley are great hosts and make you feel so welcome, all we can say is that they felt more like friends even after just one night. We would recommend this to anyone for a great overall experience.
Thank you both once again – Sharon and Denis, Rickmansworth, Hertfordshire.

  53. steve saunders says:

stopped for two nights b&b in late september 2013.
well what can we say. visited march to see family and friends. think four star quality rooms and add the personal touch and you have the fourwinds.
the room (1) is large and of a very high standard. the bed is huge and very comfortable. don’t be put off by the room not being en suite you have your own private bathroom a few steps away that is of the same high standard with the added benefit of quality toiletries.
the breakfast was of a very high standard.
    we will be back soon.
    thanks john and bev

We have just returned from 2 nights camping at Fourwinds. Cannot recommend highly enough.
the site is superb, the facilities the best we have stayed at so far this year. It was a pleasure not a chore to use the showers etc, always clean and plenty of hot water.
We took along our daughters plus a friends daughter so had 2 12 yr olds and an 8 yr old and without any technology they had a great time. We booked the Canadian canoes for a jaunt down the river and all survived the experience and came back dry, even the dog!! Would highly recommend the experience.
We had a pitch with a fire pit and would suggest this for cooler evenings.
John and Bev the owners could not be more friendly or helpful.
If you are looking for a site or B&B in this area then Fourwinds is the place to stay.

p.s the breakfast smelt great will definitely try next time!!

  55. Stuart and Gill Arkwell says:

Just returned from weekend camping at Fourwinds. Was bought Skydiving experience just up the road so this was very handy site to stay at. Big John and Bev (Gironimo and Hiawotha) could not have been more welcoming. Very friendly and helpful to us and all the other visitors. Walked into March along the river bank, about 30mins, and also went by canoe. Had electric hook up, paid for what you use, 3 nights, used £7 which covered 2 cool boxes, fan heater , lights etc. very good value. Will definitely go back if we need to be in this area. Good luck and success to you both.

  56. Anna says:

We had 3 nights camping at fourwinds before school holidays started and had an amazing time. Very peaceful. Bev and John are very friendly and helpful. We hired a canoe from them and had nice trip up the river and also walked into march one day from the campsite. Loved being able to have a campfire In the evenings and watch the sun set. Showers and toilets were nice and clean, can’t complain about anything. Hope to go back next year and would recommend to everyone. Thanku for a lovely break 🙂

  57. Sue and Tony Ryder says:

A gem of a site. Great for river walks and a lovely walk into the town of March. Bev and John were most welcoming and we enjoyed our week on the site. We have added this site to our favourite places to revisit.
    Sue and Tony Ryder

  58. steve feist says:

Had a 1 night stop over on this very peacefull site. Bev and John the owners where very friendly and helpful. The showers even though you had to buy a token for 50p for 6 minutes of use where nice and clean and the water was lovely and hot, there are 2 toilets so on busy times there could be a queue, 2 washing up sinks with loads of hot water. Would like to go back there again and spend more time in this area

  59. Katy says:

We stayed at Fourwinds for one night as a stop-over to break up a long journey & to pick up our new puppy the next day – the family room was plenty big enough & very comfortable for us and our two daughters aged 5 & 4. John & Bev were very welcoming and breakfast was fantastic! Fourwinds is terrific value. We would definitely stay again & recommend to friends & family.

  60. Howarth says:

We had a brilliant camping weekend with family and friends at Fourwinds. The facilities and site are extremely clean, the owners, John and Beverely, made us feel really welcome. Dog friendly site with some good walks. We hired the canoes and really enjoyed the trip to the Ship Inn for a drink. Great location being in the countryside but with a riverside walk or bike ride of approx 1 mile into the town. The fire pits are brilliant for a bbq/campfire. Would recommend for a relaxing camping trip.

  61. Steve and Julie says:

We have just had a weeks’ holiday at the Fourwinds B&B and it was absolutely fantastic. The room was a good size, and had a lovely view over the campsite and the river Nene. There were tea making facilities with homemade cookies left everyday, which was great when returning from a day on the river. The room was cleaned everyday. John and Beverley are really nice people who go out of their way to make your stay as pleasant as possible. There was a good selection on the menu for breakfast and nothing was ever too much trouble!! We will definitely return and would recommend to anyone.

  62. Maria Goodge says:

Just returned from a long weekend camping at Fourwinds with a large group of friends. Bev and John are very freindly, the toilet and shower facilities are lovely and clean and the whole atmosphere of the campsite is very relaxed. Lots of room to spread out and it was great having a fire pit to sit round at night. We will definately be back.

  63. Claire Robson says:

Stayed a Fourwinds recently. Had a great time. Bev and John were lovely hosts and on hand to answer questions as necessary. Lovely campsite in a beautiful area. Thanks. Claire & John – Norfolk.

  64. John Hayes says:

Very clean, comfortable and friendly place to stay. Can highly recommend. Owners Bev and John very nice people.

  65. Diane Clark says:

My son, three teenage grandchildren and I stayed at the Fourwinds B & B for the first week in July. We had a wonderful time being spoilt and cared for by Bev and John. The facilities are first grade and the food was wonderful. Being a mixture of ages and with a couple of fussy eaters, it can be a bit of a challenge, but Bev and John provided superb breakfasts every day ideally suited to everyone’s needs and tastes. Nothing was too much trouble, including coping with the laundry produced by five people. A big thank you for that, Bev. Bev and John were also able to advise on some new activities to keep the teenagers interested, with John patiently instructing us in archery one afternoon. For me, the visit to March was a nostalgic return to the place where I grew up. Thank you so much for a very special week and for making our visit such a wonderful experience with great memories. Diane, Darwin Australia

  66. Pete Rodriguez says:

We had a limited single night available for a group of us Togo camping. After some searching on te Internet, we chose the Fourwinds campsite. We could not have been any happier with our selection. Beverly and John were so polite and receptive as soon as we arrived. The facilities read described by others and a perfect “amenity” to the camping experience. Took a 2 hour canoe ride up and down the river as well which was quite enjoyable. Looking onward to our next trip back again already!

I have just spent two nights at Fourwinds campsite in my Motorcaravan. I was on my own as my wife was away in Blackpool with the daughter and granddaughter for the weekend. The welcome was really friendly and the facilities are great. There are two unisex toilets, two showers and two sinks for dishwashing, all really clean and modern. This site is run by people who are themselves campers and caravanners, and it shows. On the last morning of my stay I treated myself to one of their “Award winning breakfasts”, and what a treat it was. I will definitely be returning again with my wife, Thank you so much. Barrie, Milton Keynes.

We just wanted to say a massive thank you to Bev & John. We had a fantastic stay at Fourwinds. We had a really friendly reception from Bev and John when we arrived and thought our stay they were always friendly and helpful. Had loads of room to pitch our tent and best of all we were able to have a campfire :0) they even sell bags of hard wood logs 🙂 campsite is quiet, had lovely clean toilet/shower facilities. We had our 2yr old with us and he loved all the space he had to run around in. We only stayed 1 night this time round but have recommended this site to friends and family and are already making plans to come back with some friend very soon and to go to the Pow Wow in September 🙂
Thank you again, see you soon.

Stayed for 3 nights over the bank holiday weekend! Fantastic site, thank you John, Bev and Prince the staffie for the warm welcome! The toilet and shower rooms were spotless- the nicest I’ve experienced in a long time! The smells from the kitchen each morning were mouth watering! Fortunately for us the weather was gorgeous which meant BBQ breakfasts!! It was lovely to be by the river and the cycle ride into March was great, which takes you along the river and past some lovely little houses (all off road) before reaching a huge park with a playground for the kids. We will definitely be returning!!!

From our lovely room with amazing views over to the river to the delicious meal we had ordered for that evening to the wonderful breakfasts with everything you could wish for plus home made soda bread to die for! What a find- only thing is there are only 2 bedrooms to let so book early! Bev seems like a friend already( John was away!) Thank you so much for such a lovely time- we are looking forwards to staying again!

  75. Michelle Butler says:

Having just returned from a weekend at the Fourwinds bed and breakfast I cannot praise it more highly. From being greeted upon our arrival to the moment we left John and Bev’s hospitality was second to none. The purpose of our trip was for my daughter to learn archery, taught by John. She really enjoyed her course and John’s patience was commendable. The bedroom was large, clean and comfortable. We coffee making facilities and homemade biscuits waiting for us. Breakfast was delicious and cooked to perfection. Along with our cooked breakfast there were homemade muffins and jams tempting us. Fourwinds is a haven of tranquility, not only from its idyllic setting, but from its hosts who were very special. I am plotting a return visit to have a go at the various activities on offer.

  76. Stephen Creasey says:

Stayed three nights mid week as working in area. John & Beverly made me feel very welcome. Nice and clean B&B home from home. Being winter it was very cold out so it was nice to get back to warm and quiet room. Good nights sleep, refreshed and set off again with hearty breakfast. Will definatly visit again and visit in summer with caravan.

Stayed just one night, but would definitely come again. My husband and I enjoyed Beverley’s delicious home made soup, followed by home made shortbread and coffee. The bedroom was spacious yet cosy and warm and the bed so comfortable, slept like a log. So much delicious food on offer for breakfast, couldn’t sample it all, but what I did have was superb – Beverley is an excellent cook and a very friendly and welcoming host – nothing was too much trouble for her. I wish I could be looked after so well every day!

  85. Dennis & Maureen Alcock. says:

Have just returned from a short weekend at Fourwinds, we were meetings some friends at the Marina and were looking through U.K. campsites for somewhere local to stay for a few nights and found Fourwinds. What a find, my wife telephoned to see if we could get booked in when we wanted, when she came off the phone she said she had spoken to somebody called John and felt as though she had known him for years, she asked a lot of questions about the site locality in relation to the marina, local facilities, and site facilities and was impressed with his Knowledge of the local area.
When we arrived we were met by John and shown to our pitch then given a tour of the site to see the best way to the marina and the site facilities and finished up in the information room where Bev came out and joined in the conversation, we couldn`t have wished to meet a nicer couple, although they have only had the site since christmas they have already reached a high standard and are thinking of expanding the number of pitches available.
On the whole we could not fault the site, it was very clean everywhere, the grass was freshly mown and John and Bev could not have been more friendly, First class.
We will definately be back soon, thanks a lot.

  86. steve boothroyd says:

Just returned from a 8 night holiday at this loverly clean friendly site, both Bev and John was always had time for a natter and it was nice to campsite owners always smileing, the grass is well kept with plenty of room for children to play. The fishing is very easy, only small fish roach and perch but you catch one every throw, if your kids are intrested in fishing and want to learn you will not find a better place, my wife and myself found fishing a size 20 hook and feeding maggot was the best fishing about 800mm deep. There is only 2 showers and 2 toilets but we never had to wait, always clean, plenty of hand towels and toilet rolls, we will defenetly will be back.

  87. Caroline spencer says:

I’ve just spent a great weekend at Fourwinds with my family and some friends. The campsite is clean and well maintained and being allowed to have open fires is an added bonus. The river that forms part of the site is also an added bonus and the canoes you can hire from John and Bev are great fun. It’s close to town and a supermarket. The toilet and shower facilities are clean and warm. Couldn’t ask for more!! We will definitely be visiting again soon.

  88. Claire Greaves says:

After a long journey I was very glad to arrive and appreciated the warm welcome from John and Bev. I was made to feel really at home. Great care and attention is given to detail.

Though inexpensive, the room was very pleasant, with a very comfortable bed. The breakfast was enjoyable too.

The setting of Fourwinds is quiet and beautiful, looking out over a river at the back. I wish I had had longer to relax and explore. I’m hoping to be able to get back to Fourwinds for another visit and to try out the canoes!

I booked two nights camping with a friend in August and the only regret we had was that we hadn’t arranged to stay longer! John and Bev were great hosts and made me feel very welcome from the initial phonecall to our arrival and throughout our stay. We took advantage of the canoe hire and was the highlight of our short stay. Great site for camping, local shops are minutes away, genuinely could not wish for a better site and hosts! We are booking for a month’s time and will be returning as often as possible!

Thanks J&B for a great mini holiday!

  96. Stephen Newmarch says:

Arrived home yesterday after a 5 night stay with my little ‘un, 9, and my friends and their boy, 10.
What a great week. Mainly good weather so that always helps.
The site is great, generous sized pitches, good soil – pegs in and out nice and easy and held during windy weather. Spotless toilet and shower facilities, site kept really well, We had breakfast provided by Bev on the last morning, good quality and value and brought across to us.
Do the canoeing. It’s great. If you do, make sure you take drinks and sun slap, that’s experience gained the hard way.
Beautiful starry sky at night, not seen anything like it for years.
John and Bev were super hosts, really helpful and friendly, always stopped for a chat when you met them. They seem to enjoy the opportunities to chat with you. Very helpful on local facilities, from bike repair shop to places to eat out.
I could go on, but will finish with a definite intention to return.
Best wishes to Bev and John.

Everyone gets a nice large space for their tents, cars, campfires, gazebos, tables and chairs, and even when all that is on it, there is still lots of room! The toilets and showers are very clean and pristine and the mooring, next to the river was great to fish and canoe off! An all round brilliant holiday!’ Bridget

  101. Margie and Darren says:

It was the first time we had camped and, to our surprise, we had a really great time despite the awful weather (raining throughout our stay). John and Bev were very warm and friendly and so attentive to our needs it made our camping experience an enjoyable one. My husband borrowed a tent without checking it had all the bits in the bag….. no tent pegs, ropes or ground cover – John went the extra mile and sorted everything out, he even put the tent up for us!!! The facilities were very clean and you could sense that both John and Bev uphold a high standard. We have already rebooked for August hoping the weather will be better but this time we are taking the kids.

  102. Natalie, Danny & Layla says:

Just returned from an amazing night at your b&b. Thank you so much, the room was delightful and well worth the price. I was very excited about a proper cooked breakfast, being a vegetarian I’ve had a few bad experiences at other establishments so going to the trouble of proper veggie sausages and even the offer of local duck or hens eggs made me feel properly catered for. Nothing was too much trouble. Thank you again – Sue, Northants.
